Will Icahn Save The Atlantic City Tropicana Resort?
Billionaire investor Carl Icahn, among others, acquired the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Monday, buying up the defunct hotels $200 million in debt for just 27 cents on the dollar.
Initial reports are that the investment group will remain conservative in its plans to rebuild the once majestic resort and gambling house. Former executive William Yung III had inflicted much damage on the image of the hotel after instituting drastic cost cutting measures including the elimination of nearly 1,000 employees. The cost cutting measures came at the price of severely damaging the Atlantic City casinos brand.
