New Jersey Job Loss Slows

By admin • June 22nd, 2009

In tough economic times, the good news is really just not so bad news.  The numbers from May indicated that New Jersey job losses were not as significant as prior months, indicating a possible slow down in unemployment.

For May of 2009, the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Developement reported a loss of 6,600 private sector jobs but a gain of 400 public sector jobs.

While a decline of 6,200 jobs for the month is a significant loss, the numbers show that unemployment in New Jersey could begin trending up.

With the first four months of 2009 registering an average of nearly 15,000 jobs lost per month, this is a hopeful sign that the New Jersey job market may have bottomed out and is in the process of recovering.
